IGNOU LLB Admission 2025: Eligibility, Fees and Last Date

IGNOU LLB Admission 2025: Registration procedure at IGNOU has opened for law courses and students can apply till its last date 15th, October 2025. In July session admission at IGNOU candidates can see various courses for law such as Certificate in International Humanitarian Laws, Certificate in Gender Law, and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science & Law. 

For admission into Law courses at IGNOU applicants don’t require to clear any specific entrance exam. Because all law courses through IGNOU are certificate courses and for these courses you need to have a 12th passed mark sheet with marks 45%. IGNOU law certificate courses range INR 3,000 to INR 5,000 approx.

IGNOU does not provide any LLB degree course through their distance learning mode.

What is IGNOU LLB Admission?

The full form of this degree at IGNOU is “Bachelor of Legislative Law” but currently it is not available at the portal. This program is undergraduate degree which is around 3 years. In this program students can read various subjects like Contract Law, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Family Law and Property Law. To pursue this degree through university in India students must need a 45% achieved graduation degree for admission. 

LLB courses fees in India through various institutions range from INR 30,000 to INR 20 lakh. After passing an LLB degree students can seek a wide range of job opportunities in different fields such as Corporate Lawyer, Intellectual Property Lawyer, Judiciary, and Public Prosecutor. Those students with this degree with good grades can get a starting salary LPA around INR 3 lakhs to INR 6 lakhs.

IGNOU LLB Program Admission Process

Although IGNOU does not offer a law degree you can apply for law certificate and diploma programs by registering on the official IGNOU admissions portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu. in completing the online application attaching the necessary files and paying the required amount. These programs do not require an entrance exam and selection is made on the basis of your performance on the qualifying exam. 

Currently LLB courses at IGNOU are not available in distance mode. 

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU LLB Admission 

To apply for Indira Gandhi National Open University program of LLB you should have completed your bachelor degree with minimum 50% of marks. If you don’t have a graduation degree then 10+2 will be mandatory for students then they can enroll in Integrated LLB program. No age restriction is applicable.

3. If not completed graduation then 10+2 is compulsory for integrated program
4. Entrance test is compulsory

Procedure for IGNOU LLB Admission

1. Visit the Official Website: Visit ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in official IGNOU admission portal. 
2. Register: To obtain a username and password create a new account by entering a working email address and mobile number. 
3. Log In: Access the portal using your newly created username and password. Fill out the online application form with your academic personal and other necessary information. 
4. File Upload: Provide scanned copies of all required documents including your signature photo and academic transcripts. 
5. Choose Program and Study Center: From the list of options pick the law program of your choice and the study location that is closest to you. 
6. Pay the Fees: Use a credit/debit card or net banking to pay the application and program fees by completing the online payment form. 
7. Submit and Verify: Check all the information then send in your application. Download and store the confirmation email for your records.

IGNOU Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR)

TPGD in Intellectual Property Rights program lasts for 3 years with 6 semesters. 8 courses in the program cover a variety of topics related to intellectual property including trademarks, copyrights and patents. Graduating from an accredited university with a minimum of 50% in any discipline is the prerequisite for eligibility. Pursuing this IGNOU Law Admission programme normally fee between INR 10,000 and INR 3,00,000. Grades from prior education are used to determine admission to these courses. Students can choose to apply offline as well as online. 

1. For a fee of INR 10,200 students can enroll in the 1-year (3-year) Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR) program which requires graduation in any discipline. 
2. Post-Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ) is a 1-year program that can be extended to 3 years. It costs INR 10,800 and has a comparable eligibility requirement. 
3. For graduates or students in the 4th and 5th years of integrated LLB programs who have completed 3 years, the Post-Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL) is a 6-month program that can be extended to 2 years. 
4. Graduates in science technology or medicine as well as those in the latter years of an integrated LLB program can enroll in the 6-month Post-Graduate Certificate in Patent Practice (PGCPP) program which costs INR 9,600. 
5. INR 8400 for Diploma in Paralegal Practice is a 1-year program that can be extended to 3 years and requires 10+2 or equivalent qualifications. 
6. A postgraduate diploma in labor law is not available at IGNOU. They provide a Labour Law Certificate program. This course lasts anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. 

Bachelor of Legislative Law courses are not pursued by distance education. 

Job Opportunities after IGNOU LLB Admission with Salary

After completing the IGNOU LLB program, students can become a Corporate Counsel, work in the Judiciary, Lawyer/Advocate, Legal Advisor, or in Legal Research. For fresher-level roles, salaries after graduation from LLB course in India ranging from INR 3 LPA to INR 8 LPA and also higher in top level organisations or for professionals who have good experience in this field. Q: Can I enroll in IGNOUs distance learning program to pursue an LLB? 

A: No LLB degrees earned via distance learning are not accepted by the Bar Council of India. Students must finish an LLB through regular on-campus coursework in order to meet the legal requirements. 

Q: Is an IGNOU LLM acceptable? 

A: For use in Indian legal practice distance learning Master of Laws (LLM) programs are not approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). 

Q: For what duration has IGNOUs LAW Program admissions process been open?

A: Since July 2025-2026 IGNOU has begun to accept applications for a number of other courses but it does not currently accept admission to LAW. 

Q: How long does it take to finish an IGNOU legal theory course?
