IGNOU Assignments 2025: Status, Submission and Last Date

IGNOU Assignment: students admitted in indira gandhi national open university are required to appear for term-end examination twice in the year – in June and December. Programs are offered in Hindi and English. Assignments are to be hand written in English/Hindi and submitted in DOC format. For the December session, the last date to submit assignment was 31st October 2025. No students will be permitted to sit for examination, if their respective program assignments and projects are not completed and submitted before the due date.

What are IGNOU Assignments?

IGNOU assignments are compulsory academic tasks given to students enrolled in IGNOU for their chosen program. It is given to know how much students have understood their course. Assignments are to be submitted 2 times in a year mainly for the June and December session each. Students can access their assignments on the IGNOU website and complete it before the final submission date. Assignments carry a total 30% mark weightage, where marks obtained in assignments will be added to final results. 

How to access IGNOU Assignments

1. First go to the official IGNOU web portal.
2. Click on STUDENT SERVICES.
3. Select the DOWNLOAD section.
4. You will get many links, click on NEW CURRENT ASSIGNMENT PORTAL. 
5. All assignments will be shown curse wise. 
6. You can also write down your course code in the search box and download it.
7. Students must check the validity of each assignment before downloading them. 

IGNOU Assignment Weightage 

Total mark weightage for assignments in Indira gandhi national open university is 30%.IGNOU  Final results will be based on marks obtained in  assignment and term-end examination. IGNOU total marks are split in a ratio of 3:7, where 30% is for assignment and 70% for term-end examination. 

Guidelines on How to submit IGNOU Assignment: 

1. Assignment can be downloaded through – webservices.ignou.ac.in. 
2. Cover page of each assignment will include: students name, enrolment number, program and course code, study center code, name of study centre along with its address, mobile number and phone number, detail if this particular assignment is submitted elsewhere and click YES/NO if above information is cross checked, date of submission and students signature. 
3. Assignments are to be handwritten only. It should be neat and readable. No typed assignment will be accepted.
4. Only A4 white color sheets should be used to write down assignments. Red INK is not permissible.
5. Each separate course assignment is to be submitted with their question paper.  
6. Last date for submission of assignment for the June session was 31st May 2025, and for December session is 31st October 2025 (extended dates 2025). 
7. Late submission of assignment will not be accepted by university. coordinator/study centre has the right to reject your assignment if submitted after a given date. 
8. No sending assignments through email unless mentioned by the concerned LSC. 
9. No students are allowed to attach hand written question papers while submitting an assignment.

How to submit IGNOU Assignments Online

Those students who are enrolled in online mode will submit their assignments in the LMS portal only. 

1. Visit IGNOU official regional centre.
2. Open NEWS AND EVEN section.
3. Click on the assignment submission link.
4. Open google form link.
5. Enter your enrollment number and subject code to fill google form. 
6. Scan your assignment and submit it after reviewing it. 

How to submit IGNOU Assignment Offline

There is no lengthy process of submitting IGNOU assignments offline. Students can go to their nearest regional centre and directly submit their assignment. Addresses of any regional centre can be found online on IGNOU website and students can see their regional centre location in their students ID card. 

IGNOU assignment status 2025 

Students can check their assignment status on IGNOu website. Any students enrolled in IGNOU who have submitted their assignment offline can also see their assignment status online. Go to isms.ignou.ac.in link and you will see assignment/project/practical submission status/checking option. Type in your 10-digit enrollment number and select your program code, and click on submit button. This helps students know if their assignment has been successfully submitted and evaluated. Students will also be able to see marks obtained in their theory and assignment.
